I enjoy science and history. In this page, you will find the projects that I worked on either at school, at home or at Build-It-Yourself.
1) Animated GIF Project The following is an Animated GIF that I created as a project at Build-It-Yourself. This was my first project and I had a lot of fun. I created images using Power Point. Then, I learned how to use GIMP. I converted my images into an Animated GIF. The result is an animated portrait of myself.
2) Christopher Columbus (1451-1506) Project Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy. He had three ships named, Santa Maria, Pinta, and Nina. He sailed on 4 journeys in the Atlantic Ocean (1492-1493, 1493-1496, 1498-1502, and 1502-1504). His goal was to go to Asia and find gold, and spices. He accidentally crashed into land. He thought it was India but was actually America. This three dimensional monument designed to honor him. I build three ships from wood which stands straight up on a wood base which is colored to match the blues of Atlantic Ocean. The wind blows from East to West, that means three ships are sailing towards America. Ayla's Christopher Columbus Project 3) Shapes and Angles Project All objects are made out of from different angles and shapes. In this fifth-grade school project, I built a model airplane which is made out of many different shapes and angles. The airplane is ready to take off on the runway. The runway is on a wooden plate. There is a plaque on the plate which describes all the shapes and angles that I found on this object. Ayla's Shapes and Angles Project 4) Apple Seed Project Do different types of apples have the same number of seeds? If you are wondering about the answer, you should read my research which I have done during second grade at school. This was a science fair project. My father is from third generation apple grower family. Our family has big apple orchards in Egirdir Lake, Turkey. He did not know the answer, either. Together, we learned a lot while I was doing my research. I got a ribbon for completing such a good complex project. Are you interested in more projects? Come and visit this page soon. I will be posting more!
